Features

Notes that float above everything else.

Slip Switch sits on top of your other windows, so what matters stays in view while you work in something else.

One track per project, one click away.

Each track is a standalone Markdown note in the launcher. Switch contexts without losing your place.

Subtle nudges, not notification spam.

A small colored bar on a tab — daily, weekly, or monthly — so nothing slips. No badges, no pings, no anxiety.

Your notes, on your computer, in plain text.

It’s just Markdown. No cloud, no accounts, no data collection. Sync them via Dropbox or iCloud yourself, or don’t.

And lots of little things…

  • File attachments. Drag any file in — it copies into the track folder beside the note.
  • Snapshots. Right-click a track for a timestamped backup before risky edits.
  • Archive, don’t delete. Hide a track from the launcher; restore it later from settings.
  • Read-only mode. Lock tracks to stop accidental edits while you reference them.
  • GFM task lists. Standard [ ] checkboxes, with optional strike-through on done.
  • Sweep completed. One click clears every checked task from the current note.
  • Block drag handles. Reorder paragraphs, list items, and headings by their left margin.
  • Drag-reorder tracks. Or use ⌥+↑/↓ — every action has a configurable shortcut.
  • Custom shortcuts. Rebind anything in Settings → Options → Shortcuts.
  • Custom data directory. Point Slip Switch at Dropbox, OneDrive, Google Drive, or iCloud.
  • Per-track reminders. Each track sets its own cadence and dismissal rules.
  • Snooze for… Push a reminder forward by a preset, or pick a custom date.
  • Auto-hide launcher. Tuck the sidebar out of the way until your cursor returns.
  • Pinnable popup. Pin the note window open, or let it close when focus moves away.
  • Move the launcher. Left edge, right edge, top, or bottom — your call.
  • Color themes. Dark, light, or paint the launcher and editor with custom colors.
  • Typography. Pick a custom font and dial the size up or down.
  • Calm motion. Reduce or disable animations if they pull focus.
