Terms of Service
NOTICE: Please read these Terms carefully. They cover important information about the Mind the Gap desktop application provided to you (the “Application” or “Mind the Gap”). These Terms include information about future changes to these Terms, limitations of liability, a class action waiver, and resolution of disputes by arbitration instead of in court.
PLEASE NOTE THAT YOUR USE OF AND ACCESS TO MIND THE GAP (DEFINED BELOW) ARE SUBJECT TO THE FOLLOWING TERMS; IF YOU DO NOT AGREE TO ALL OF THE FOLLOWING, YOU MAY NOT INSTALL OR USE MIND THE GAP IN ANY MANNER.
Welcome to Mind the Gap
Please read on to learn the rules and restrictions that govern your use of the Mind the Gap desktop application. If you have any questions, comments, or concerns regarding these terms or Mind the Gap, please contact us using the contact information provided at the bottom of this page.
These Terms of Use (the “Terms”) are a binding contract between you and Geshido Corporation (“Geshido,” “we” and “us”). You must agree to and accept all of the Terms, or you don’t have the right to install or use Mind the Gap. Your installing or using Mind the Gap in any way means that you agree to all of these Terms, and these Terms will remain in effect while you use Mind the Gap. These Terms include the provisions in this document, as well as those in the Privacy Policy.
What is Mind the Gap?
Mind the Gap is a desktop application that delivers reminders for events from calendars you choose to connect. When a reminder fires, Mind the Gap displays a prominent, always-on-top notification window intended to be hard to ignore — like an alarm clock for your calendar. Mind the Gap can read calendar data from sources you configure, including iCalendar (ICS or webcal) URLs and, where supported, direct integrations with third-party calendar providers such as Google Calendar, Microsoft Outlook / Microsoft 365, Apple iCloud Calendar, or other providers Geshido may add in the future. Mind the Gap is available for Windows and macOS.
Will these terms ever change?
We are constantly trying to improve Mind the Gap, so these Terms may need to change along with the Application. We reserve the right to change the Terms at any time, but if we do, we will bring it to your attention by updating the application, placing a notice on our website, and/or by some other means.
If you don’t agree with the new Terms, you are free to reject them; unfortunately, that means you will no longer be able to use Mind the Gap and should uninstall the application. If you use Mind the Gap in any way after a change to the Terms is effective, that means you agree to all of the changes.
Except for changes by us as described here, no other amendment or modification of these Terms will be effective unless in writing and agreed to by both you and us.
The most recent version of these Terms and Privacy Policy is available at https://geshido.com/terms-privacy. If the version available online is newer than the version displayed in the application, the online version supersedes the in-app version.
What about my privacy?
Geshido takes the privacy of its users very seriously. Please review our Privacy Policy for more information on how your data may be used and stored due to your use of the Application, including information about Mind the Gap’s connections to calendar providers you configure.
What are the basics of using Mind the Gap?
Mind the Gap is a desktop application that does not require you to create an account with Geshido. The application’s core functionality operates locally on your device. However, certain features require an internet connection and may communicate with external servers, including:
- Geshido’s servers or third-party payment processors for update checks and license verification, as described in the “Online Services” and “License Validation and Payment Processing” sections below; and
- Calendar providers that you configure, as described in the “Calendar provider connections” section below.
You represent and warrant that if you are an individual, you are of legal age to form a binding contract (or if not, you’ve received your parent’s or guardian’s permission to use Mind the Gap and gotten your parent or guardian to agree to these Terms on your behalf).
You will only use Mind the Gap in a manner that complies with all laws that apply to you. If your use of Mind the Gap is prohibited by applicable laws, then you aren’t authorized to use Mind the Gap. We can’t and won’t be responsible for your using Mind the Gap in a way that breaks the law.
Your use of Mind the Gap is subject to the following additional restrictions. You represent, warrant, and agree that you will not use Mind the Gap in a manner that:
- Infringes or violates the intellectual property rights or any other rights of anyone else (including Geshido)
- Violates any law or regulation, including, without limitation, any applicable export control laws
- Is harmful, fraudulent, deceptive, threatening, harassing, defamatory, obscene, or otherwise objectionable
- Violates the security of any computer network, or cracks any passwords or security encryption codes
- Accesses any calendar or other resource that you are not authorized to access, or violates the terms of service of any calendar provider you connect to Mind the Gap
- Interferes with the proper working of Mind the Gap
A violation of any of the foregoing is grounds for requesting that you cease using Mind the Gap.
What are my rights in Mind the Gap?
You understand that Geshido owns Mind the Gap. You won’t modify, publish, transmit, participate in the transfer or sale of, reproduce, create derivative works based on, or otherwise exploit Mind the Gap without prior permission from Geshido.
All data that you create in Mind the Gap, and all calendar data that Mind the Gap fetches on your behalf from providers you configure, remains your data (or the data of the applicable provider, as governed by your relationship with that provider). Geshido does not claim ownership of this data.
License Grant and Restrictions
Grant of License: Subject to your compliance with these Terms, Geshido Corporation grants you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to download, install, and use Mind the Gap for your individual use. Each license is issued to a single individual and may not be shared with or used by any other person.
Current Free Use: Mind the Gap is currently available at no charge. Geshido reserves the right to require a paid license for continued use of Mind the Gap at any time in the future. If Geshido decides to require payment, notice will be provided either through updates to these Terms of Use or through an automatic software update to the application. You will then have the opportunity to decide whether to purchase a license to continue using Mind the Gap.
Multi-Device Use: A valid Mind the Gap license permits you to install and activate Mind the Gap on multiple devices that you personally own or control for your individual use. This multi-device capability is intended to accommodate your use across personal computers (such as work and home computers) and does not permit sharing with other individuals.
Non-Transferable and Non-Shareable: Your license to use Mind the Gap is personal to you as an individual and may not be transferred, assigned, shared, sold, or otherwise conveyed to any other person or entity. You may not permit any other individual to use Mind the Gap under your license, and each user must obtain their own separate license from Geshido.
License Revocation: Geshido reserves the right to revoke your license at any time if you breach these Terms or misuse Mind the Gap, including but not limited to sharing your license key with others or permitting other individuals to use Mind the Gap under your license.
Data storage and management
Mind the Gap stores your data — including configured calendar sources, any authentication credentials or access tokens for connected calendar providers, cached calendar events, and preferences — locally on your device’s file system in accordance with the terms of its Privacy Policy. The integrity and privacy of your data depends on your operating system and device functioning according to specifications, and on your own protection of your device. Geshido is not responsible for any issues caused by operating system malfunctions, device compromise, or deviations from expected behavior.
Calendar provider connections
Mind the Gap allows you to connect calendars from third-party providers, including but not limited to iCalendar (ICS / webcal) URLs and direct integrations such as Google Calendar, Microsoft Outlook / Microsoft 365, Apple iCloud Calendar, and other providers Geshido may add in the future (each a “Calendar Provider”).
By connecting a Calendar Provider, you direct Mind the Gap to access calendar data on your behalf. You acknowledge and agree that:
- Authorization is your responsibility. You represent that you have the right to access any calendar you connect to Mind the Gap, and that you will comply with the applicable Calendar Provider’s terms of service. Geshido is not responsible if you connect a calendar you are not authorized to access.
- Direct connections from your device. When Mind the Gap fetches data from a Calendar Provider, the request is made directly from your device to the Calendar Provider. The data does not pass through Geshido’s servers, and Geshido does not see, log, or store the contents of your calendars.
- Periodic background fetching. Once configured, Mind the Gap may periodically fetch updates from a connected Calendar Provider in the background so that reminders remain current. The frequency of these fetches is determined by the application and may be configurable. Disabling or removing a calendar source stops further fetches from that source.
- Provider terms govern. Calendar Providers are independent third parties. Your use of any Calendar Provider, and the Calendar Provider’s collection and use of data about your account and requests, are governed by the Calendar Provider’s own terms of service and privacy policies, not by these Terms. Geshido is not a party to your relationship with any Calendar Provider.
- Provider availability and changes. Calendar Providers may change, restrict, suspend, or terminate access to their services or APIs at any time. Geshido does not guarantee continued compatibility with any particular Calendar Provider and may add, modify, or remove support for specific Calendar Providers at its discretion.
- OAuth and credentials. Where Mind the Gap connects to a Calendar Provider via OAuth or a similar authentication flow, the resulting tokens or credentials are stored locally on your device and are used only to access calendar data from that provider on your behalf. You may revoke this access at any time, either from within Mind the Gap or directly through the Calendar Provider’s account or security settings.
- Private URLs and secrets. ICS or webcal URLs may include tokens or other secrets that grant access to private calendars. You are solely responsible for the confidentiality of any URLs or credentials you provide to Mind the Gap.
- No verification of accuracy. Geshido does not validate, modify, or verify the contents, accuracy, completeness, or timeliness of any data fetched from a Calendar Provider. Reminders generated by Mind the Gap reflect the data the Calendar Provider returned at the time of the most recent fetch.
Reminders and notifications
Mind the Gap is intended to help you remember calendar events but is not a guaranteed reminder service. Mind the Gap will only deliver reminders when the application is running and when your device’s operating system permits. Reminders may be missed, delayed, or duplicated for many reasons, including but not limited to: the application not being running, the device being asleep or off, the operating system suspending or terminating the application, network connectivity issues preventing the application from fetching updates from a Calendar Provider, errors or delays in data returned by a Calendar Provider, configuration changes by you, or bugs in the software. You should not rely on Mind the Gap as the sole reminder mechanism for any event where missing the reminder could result in significant harm or loss.
Online Services
While Mind the Gap’s core reminder functionality operates locally on your device, the application connects to external servers in the following circumstances:
- Update checks: Mind the Gap may periodically check for available updates. Update manifests and binaries are distributed through GitHub via GitHub Releases (or a successor host designated by Geshido). During these checks, the application may transmit your current application version and operating system information so that the correct update can be served.
- License validation: If Geshido requires payment for Mind the Gap in the future, Mind the Gap may connect to third-party payment processor servers to verify the validity of your license.
- Calendar provider connections: Mind the Gap connects to Calendar Providers that you configure, as described in the “Calendar provider connections” section above. These connections are made directly from your device to the Calendar Provider and do not involve Geshido’s servers.
- Future services: Mind the Gap may include additional online features in the future. These features may require internet connectivity and may transmit additional technical information as necessary for their operation. Geshido will provide notice of any such features and an opportunity to accept or decline usage before they are enabled.
You may disable automatic update checks in the application settings. Core reminder functionality of Mind the Gap will continue to function for already-fetched calendar events without an internet connection, though new updates from Calendar Providers will not be retrieved while offline, and license validation (if required in the future) would require connectivity.
Does Geshido have any publicity rights?
Geshido may contact you to request if we may use your trade names, trademarks, service marks, logos, and other distinctive brand features in presentations, marketing materials, customer lists, financial reports and website listings for the purpose of advertising or publicizing your use of Mind the Gap. We will not publicize your use of Mind the Gap without prior authorization.
Data and licenses
Mind the Gap does not require you to provide any data to Geshido. All data that you create in Mind the Gap, and all calendar data that Mind the Gap fetches on your behalf, is stored only locally on your device. Geshido does not claim ownership of your calendar data, configurations, or any other personal information.
If you choose to share logs or diagnostic information with Geshido for support purposes, you are responsible for redacting or removing any sensitive information (including private calendar URLs, OAuth tokens, event titles, or attendee names) before sharing. By sharing such information, you grant Geshido a license to use this information solely for the purpose of providing support and improving Mind the Gap.
Third party dependencies and limitations
Mind the Gap operates on Windows and macOS operating systems. Geshido shall not be responsible for the operation of these platforms, nor the availability or operation of Mind the Gap to the extent such availability and operation is dependent upon these platforms. You shall be solely responsible for procuring any rights necessary for you to access your device and for complying with any applicable terms or conditions.
Mind the Gap depends on Calendar Providers and other third-party services to deliver some of its functionality. Geshido is not responsible for the availability, operation, accuracy, completeness, security, or data handling practices of any Calendar Provider or other third party. Where Mind the Gap relies on third-party APIs, branding, or services, your use of those services may be subject to the third party’s own terms.
If there is a dispute between you and any third party (including operating system vendors, Calendar Providers, your employer, or system administrators), you agree that Geshido is under no obligation to become involved. You release Geshido, its directors, officers, employees, agents, and successors from claims, demands, and damages of every kind or nature, known or unknown, suspected or unsuspected, disclosed or undisclosed, arising out of or in any way related to such disputes and/or Mind the Gap. If you are a California resident, you shall and hereby do waive California Civil Code Section 1542, which says: “A general release does not extend to claims which the creditor does not know or suspect to exist in his favor at the time of executing the release, which, if known by him must have materially affected his settlement with the debtor.”
Will Geshido ever change Mind the Gap?
We’re always trying to improve Mind the Gap, so it may change over time. We may introduce new features, modify existing features (including adding, modifying, or removing support for specific Calendar Providers), or discontinue Mind the Gap entirely. We reserve the right to make these changes at any time, in our sole discretion, and without prior notice.
Does Mind the Gap cost anything?
Mind the Gap is currently available at no charge. You may use Mind the Gap without any payment requirements.
Geshido reserves the right to require a paid license for continued use of Mind the Gap at any time in the future. We may also introduce additional paid features or premium tiers. If we decide to require payment for Mind the Gap, we will provide notice through updates to these Terms of Use and/or through an automatic software update to the application. You will have the opportunity to decide whether to purchase a license to continue using Mind the Gap under any new pricing terms.
Payment Processing
If Geshido requires payment for Mind the Gap in the future, payment processing will be handled through a third-party payment processor designated by Geshido (“Payment Processor”). When payment is required:
- Your payment information (including name, email, billing address, and payment details) will be collected and stored by the Payment Processor in accordance with their privacy policy and terms of service.
- Geshido may have access to certain information from the Payment Processor, including your name, email address, and license status, solely for the purpose of providing customer support.
- Geshido will not use your contact information obtained through the Payment Processor for marketing purposes.
- Mind the Gap may contact the Payment Processor’s servers to validate your license status.
Geshido reserves the right to select or change payment processors at its discretion. Any such changes will be communicated through application updates and/or updates to these Terms.
Other Geshido Products and Donations
Geshido may offer other applications, services, or donation options separate from Mind the Gap. Each Geshido product has its own licensing terms.
Paid licensing and future services
Geshido may require a paid license for continued use of Mind the Gap at any time, or may introduce additional paid features or premium services (such as cloud storage, synchronization, or hosted calendar integrations). Notice of any such requirements or features will be provided through updates to these Terms of Use and/or through an automatic software update to the application. Any paid licensing or services will have their terms and pricing presented at the time they are introduced.
Refund policy
We offer a full refund of your initial license purchase within 30 days of that purchase. Subsequent purchases, such as renewals or additional licenses, are not refundable.
To request a refund, contact us at support@geshido.com with:
- The invoice number of the purchase you wish to be refunded.
- The last four digits of the payment method used for the purchase.
If you cannot verify your identity as the original purchaser within 30 days of your purchase, the refund request may be rejected at Geshido’s sole discretion.
Our refund policy is designed to help with accidental purchases, incompatibility, and unsuitability. It is not intended as a way to use Mind the Gap for free — we reserve the right to reject a refund if our policy is abused.
What if I want to stop using Mind the Gap?
You’re free to stop using Mind the Gap at any time by uninstalling the application from your device. Since Mind the Gap stores data only locally on your device, uninstalling the application will remove all locally stored data in the application’s data directory, including any tokens or credentials for connected Calendar Providers. To fully revoke a Calendar Provider’s authorization, you may also need to use that provider’s own account or security settings.
Geshido may also request that you cease using Mind the Gap for any reason in our discretion, including your breach of these Terms.
Provisions that, by their nature, should survive termination of these Terms shall survive termination. By way of example, all of the following will survive termination: any obligation you have to pay us or indemnify us, any limitations on our liability, any terms regarding ownership or intellectual property rights, and terms regarding disputes between us, including without limitation the arbitration agreement.
Warranty disclaimer
Geshido provides Mind the Gap “AS IS” without warranty of any kind. We make no representations or warranties concerning Mind the Gap, and we will not be responsible or liable for the accuracy, reliability, or functionality of Mind the Gap, including without limitation the timeliness, accuracy, completeness, or delivery of any reminder. We are not responsible for any missed events, missed reminders, lost data, or other consequences resulting from the use of, or inability to use, Mind the Gap. MIND THE GAP IS PROVIDED BY GESHIDO ON AN “AS-IS” BASIS, WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING, WITHOUT LIMITATION, IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, NON-INFRINGEMENT, OR THAT USE OF MIND THE GAP WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED OR ERROR-FREE. SOME STATES DO NOT ALLOW LIMITATIONS ON HOW LONG AN IMPLIED WARRANTY LASTS, SO THE ABOVE LIMITATIONS MAY NOT APPLY TO YOU.
Accessibility disclaimer
While we strive to make Mind the Gap accessible and may reference accessibility features in our marketing materials, such references do not create any legal obligation or guarantee to accommodate any particular person, disability, or accessibility need. Any accessibility features are provided on a good faith, best effort basis.
Limitation of liability
TO THE FULLEST EXTENT ALLOWED BY APPLICABLE LAW, UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES AND UNDER NO LEGAL THEORY (INCLUDING, WITHOUT LIMITATION, TORT, CONTRACT, STRICT LIABILITY, OR OTHERWISE) SHALL GESHIDO (OR ITS LICENSORS OR SUPPLIERS) BE LIABLE TO YOU OR TO ANY OTHER PERSON FOR (A) ANY INDIRECT, SPECIAL, INCIDENTAL, OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES OF ANY KIND, INCLUDING DAMAGES FOR LOST PROFITS, LOSS OF GOODWILL, WORK STOPPAGE, LOSS OF DATA, MISSED EVENTS OR APPOINTMENTS, OR COMPUTER FAILURE OR MALFUNCTION, OR (B) ANY AMOUNT, IN THE AGGREGATE, IN EXCESS OF THE GREATER OF (I) $100 OR (II) THE AMOUNTS PAID BY YOU TO GESHIDO FOR MIND THE GAP IN THE TWELVE (12) MONTH PERIOD PRECEDING THIS APPLICABLE CLAIM, OR © ANY MATTER BEYOND OUR REASONABLE CONTROL, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO OPERATING SYSTEM CHANGES OR MALFUNCTIONS, OR THE ACTS, OMISSIONS, AVAILABILITY, OR DATA HANDLING PRACTICES OF ANY CALENDAR PROVIDER OR OTHER THIRD PARTY. SOME STATES DO NOT ALLOW THE EXCLUSION OR LIMITATION OF CERTAIN DAMAGES, SO THE ABOVE LIMITATION AND EXCLUSIONS MAY NOT APPLY TO YOU.
Indemnity
To the fullest extent allowed by applicable law, you agree to indemnify and hold Geshido, its affiliates, officers, agents, employees, and partners harmless from and against any and all claims, liabilities, damages (actual and consequential), losses and expenses (including attorneys’ fees) arising from or in any way related to any third party claims relating to (a) your use of the Services (including any actions taken by a third party using your account, and any access to or use of any Calendar Provider through Mind the Gap), and (b) your violation of these Terms or of any Calendar Provider’s terms of service. In the event of such a claim, suit, or action (“Claim”), we will attempt to provide notice of the Claim to the contact information we have for your account (provided that failure to deliver such notice shall not eliminate or reduce your indemnification obligations hereunder).
Assignment
You may not assign, delegate or transfer these Terms or your rights or obligations hereunder, or your Services account, in any way (by operation of law or otherwise) without Geshido’s prior written consent. We may transfer, assign, or delegate these Terms and our rights and obligations without consent.
Choice of law
These Terms, and any disputes arising out of or related hereto, are governed by and will be construed under applicable federal law and the laws of the State of California, without regard to the conflicts of laws provisions thereof.
Each party hereby agrees that any judicial proceeding will be brought in the state or federal courts located in, respectively, San Mateo County, California, or the Northern District of California.
Each party hereby consents and submits to the exclusive jurisdiction of such courts. In any action or proceeding to enforce rights under the Terms, the prevailing party will be entitled to recover its reasonable costs and attorney’s fees.
Entire agreement
The Terms, including the Privacy Policy and any terms incorporated by reference into the Terms, constitute the entire agreement between you and us and supersede all prior and contemporaneous agreements, proposals or representations, written or oral, concerning its subject matter. To the extent of any conflict or inconsistency between the provisions in these Terms and any pages referenced in these Terms, the terms of these Terms will first prevail.
Miscellaneous
You will be responsible for paying, withholding, filing, and reporting all taxes, duties, and other governmental assessments associated with your activity in connection with the Services, provided that Geshido may, in its sole discretion, do any of the foregoing on your behalf or for itself as it sees fit. The failure of either you or us to exercise, in any way, any right herein shall not be deemed a waiver of any further rights hereunder. If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable or invalid, that provision will be limited or eliminated, to the minimum extent necessary, so that these Terms shall otherwise remain in full force and effect and enforceable. You and Geshido agree that these Terms are the complete and exclusive statement of the mutual understanding between you and Geshido, and that these Terms supersede and cancel all previous written and oral agreements, communications and other understandings relating to the subject matter of these Terms. You hereby acknowledge and agree that you are not an employee, agent, partner, or joint venture of Geshido, and you do not have any authority of any kind to bind Geshido in any respect whatsoever.

Privacy Policy
We take your privacy seriously. Mind the Gap is designed with privacy as a core principle. This Privacy Policy explains how Mind the Gap handles your data and information.
What this privacy policy covers
This Privacy Policy covers how Mind the Gap treats data when you use the desktop application. Mind the Gap is designed to operate primarily on your local device, with the exception of network requests to calendar providers that you configure as described below. Aside from those user-configured connections, data handling by Geshido Corporation (hereafter “Geshido”) is minimal.
Data collection and storage
What we do NOT collect automatically
Mind the Gap does not automatically collect personal data from you through the application itself. Specifically:
- We do not collect any analytics or telemetry data through the application
- We do not collect your calendar events, reminders, or any content fetched from your calendar providers
- We do not track your usage patterns or application behavior
- We do not use cookies, web beacons, or any tracking technologies
Data collected through payment processing
If you purchase a license, personal information is collected and stored by a third-party payment processor designated by Geshido (the “Payment Processor”). This includes:
- Name and email address
- Billing address
- Payment method details (handled securely by the Payment Processor)
- License key and activation status
Geshido has access to your name, email address, and license status from the Payment Processor. This information is retained solely for customer support purposes (such as helping you activate or transfer your license). We will not use this information for marketing purposes. The Payment Processor’s handling of your data is governed by their own privacy policy.
How your data is stored
Mind the Gap is designed to keep your data local and private:
- Local storage only: All data that you create or that the application fetches on your behalf — including calendar feed configurations, OAuth tokens or other authentication credentials for connected calendar providers, cached calendar events, reminders, and preferences — is stored only on your device’s local file system. You may sync this data with an online service (including future services provided by Geshido) at your own discretion, but this is not required to use Mind the Gap, nor will it be done automatically without your consent.
- User control: You can access, export, or delete your data at any time using your operating system’s file management tools, or by removing connected calendar providers from within the application.
- No content transmission to Geshido: Your calendar events, reminders, configurations, and authentication credentials never leave your device for transmission to Geshido’s servers. They are transmitted only to the calendar providers you have configured (see “Calendar provider connections” below).
- Limited network calls outside calendar providers: Aside from connections to calendar providers you configure, Mind the Gap connects to third-party servers only for update checks (served from GitHub Releases) and, where applicable, license validation, as described in the Terms of Use. These connections transmit only technical information (such as app version, OS, and license key) necessary for these features, never your calendar content or other personal content.
Calendar provider connections
A core feature of Mind the Gap is its ability to connect to external calendar providers that you choose to configure. These connections operate as follows:
- User-initiated: No calendar provider connection is established without your explicit configuration. You decide which calendars to add and may remove them at any time.
- Direct connections: When Mind the Gap fetches data from a calendar provider, it connects directly from your device to that provider’s servers. The request does not pass through Geshido’s servers, and Geshido does not see, log, or store the contents of the fetched data.
- Periodic background fetching: Once you configure a calendar source, Mind the Gap may periodically fetch updates from that source in the background so that reminders remain current. The fetch interval is determined by the application and may be configurable. Disabling or removing a calendar source stops further fetches from that source.
- Information visible to providers: When Mind the Gap connects to a calendar provider, that provider may receive technical information including your device’s IP address, request timestamps, user agent or client identifier, and any URL paths, query parameters, or authentication credentials necessary to access the calendar. The provider’s handling of this information is governed by its own terms of service and privacy policy.
- ICS / iCalendar URLs: When you add a calendar via an ICS or webcal URL, the URL itself (including any tokens or secrets embedded in it) is stored locally and is sent to the host of that URL each time Mind the Gap fetches the calendar. You are responsible for the confidentiality of any URLs you add, including private or “secret” calendar URLs.
- OAuth and similar integrations: Where Mind the Gap supports direct integration with calendar providers (such as Google Calendar, Microsoft Outlook / Microsoft 365, Apple iCloud Calendar, or other providers Geshido may add in the future), you authorize Mind the Gap to access your account through that provider’s authentication flow. The resulting access tokens, refresh tokens, and any related metadata are stored locally on your device and used only by Mind the Gap to fetch your calendar data from that provider. You may revoke this access at any time, either from within Mind the Gap by removing the connection, or directly through the provider’s account or security settings.
- Third-party policies apply: Calendar providers are independent third parties. Their collection, retention, and use of your data — including the contents of your calendars and any metadata about your requests — is governed by their own privacy policies and terms of service, not by this Privacy Policy. Geshido does not control these providers and is not responsible for their data handling practices.
You should review the privacy policies of each calendar provider you connect to. If you have questions about whether a provider stores logs of your requests, retains data when you disconnect, or shares data with other parties, those questions should be directed to the provider.
Data you may choose to share
The only data Geshido may receive from your use of Mind the Gap is information you voluntarily choose to share:
- Optional log sharing: If you experience issues with Mind the Gap, you may choose to share logs or diagnostic information with Geshido for support purposes. Logs may contain calendar URLs, event titles, or other information that you have configured or fetched.
- Your responsibility: If you choose to share logs, you are responsible for reviewing and redacting any sensitive information (including private calendar URLs, OAuth tokens, event titles, or attendee names) before sharing.
- Support only: Any information you share is used solely for providing support and improving Mind the Gap.
Data transmitted during online services
When Mind the Gap checks for available updates, it fetches an update manifest and any new binaries from GitHub via GitHub Releases. GitHub receives your IP address, user agent, request timestamp, and the URL or asset path requested. The application also transmits your current application version, platform, and architecture so that the manifest can advertise the correct update for your device. GitHub’s handling of this data is governed by GitHub’s privacy statement.
When Mind the Gap connects to the Payment Processor’s servers for license validation, your license key is transmitted to verify its validity. This occurs when you register a license and during periodic revalidation checks at application startup or when resuming from system sleep.
This information is used solely to provide update notifications and validate licenses. We do not use this information for tracking, profiling, or advertising purposes. You can disable automatic update checks in the application settings.
Connections that Mind the Gap makes to calendar providers you configure are not connections to Geshido’s servers and are described in “Calendar provider connections” above.
Third-party data processors
Geshido uses a third-party Payment Processor for license purchases and validation. Geshido reserves the right to select or change Payment Processors at its discretion. If a change occurs, we will provide notice through application updates, email (if we have your email address from a previous purchase), and/or updates to this Privacy Policy and the Mind the Gap website. The Payment Processor’s handling of your data will be governed by their own privacy policy.
Geshido distributes Mind the Gap update manifests and binaries through GitHub, Inc., via GitHub Releases. When Mind the Gap checks for or downloads an update, GitHub receives standard request metadata as described above under “Data transmitted during online services.” Geshido reserves the right to change the update host at its discretion (for example, to a successor host); any such change will be communicated through application updates and/or updates to this Privacy Policy. GitHub’s handling of your data is governed by GitHub’s privacy statement.
Calendar providers that you choose to connect to Mind the Gap are not data processors of Geshido. They are independent third parties acting on your behalf at your direction.
Data security
Since Mind the Gap stores all your data — including any access tokens or credentials for connected calendar providers — locally on your device, your data security depends on your device’s security and your operating system’s security. We recommend keeping your operating system updated and protecting your device with appropriate access controls. When you uninstall Mind the Gap, all locally stored data should be removed according to operating system specifications. Geshido is not responsible for any issues caused by operating system malfunctions or deviations from expected data handling behavior.
If a calendar provider you have connected to Mind the Gap suffers a security incident, that incident is governed by the provider’s own policies and incident response procedures. Geshido cannot revoke a provider’s tokens on your behalf; you should use the provider’s own controls to revoke access if you have a security concern.
Children’s privacy
We do not knowingly collect or solicit personal information from children under 13. If you are a child under 13, please do not attempt to use Mind the Gap or send any personal information about yourself to us. If we learn we have collected personal information from a child under 13, we will delete that information as quickly as possible.
Your rights and choices
Since Mind the Gap does not collect personal data automatically, traditional data rights (like access, deletion, or portability) are not applicable to Geshido in the usual sense. However:
- You can stop using Mind the Gap at any time by uninstalling the application
- You can disconnect any calendar provider at any time from within the application; doing so will stop further fetches from that provider and remove locally stored credentials for it
- You can revoke access to any connected provider directly through that provider’s account or security settings
- All locally stored data should be removed when you uninstall the application (subject to operating system behavior)
- You can manually delete your data at any time using your operating system’s file management tools
- You control what, if any, information you choose to share with us for support
